Welcome to LaGuardia Community College’s 2025 OER Showcase and Symposium. The Symposium will be held on 2 May 2025 and will offer a chance to share your ongoing, new, and future OER projects with the wider community while building connections to other OER implementers and organizers in our community. All are welcome to register to attend and offer their input in the spirit of Open Pedagogy.
Open Educational Resources (OER) is a growing movement within higher education to provide open, free-to-use, free-to-share, and free-to-modify educational resources. Have you been working on implementing OER in your classroom praxis or within your program, department, or college? Come share and show-off your prowess. Hear our excellent keynote speakers: Ian McDermott (OER Librarian at LaGuardia Community College), Stacy Katz (Associate Professor Open Resources Librarian-STEM Liaison at Lehman College), and Elvis Bakaitis (Head Reference Librarian, Graduate Center). Explore the posters at our poster session while you share and collaborate with other OER leaders at LaGuardia Community College and across CUNY.
The interdisciplinary celebration of OER will occur from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm 2 May 2025. It will take place at LaGuardia Community College, Room E-500. Following the general symposium, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, a special discussion and collaboration about LaGuardia Community College’s creation of an OER Anatomy and Physiology laboratory manual will happen in the same room.
This conference is organized by LaGuardia Community College as part of the ongoing OER initiative at the school.
